What is coaching like?

Coaching can be done in person, by phone, or virtually. Your coach will help you to establish the goals or desires you have for yourself and work with you to develop a plan for achievement. The use of assessments in the initial phase of coaching are common to help you identify your greatest personal strengths. Sessions typically range between 30 and 60 minutes. Coaching can be provided in both short-term and long-term formats, dependent upon established goals.
The person best suited for working with a coach is one who is aware that change is needed and is ready to take action.

Are therapy and coaching confidential?

In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and  psychotherapist. No information is disclosed without prior written permission from the client.  However, there are some exceptions required by law to this rule. Exceptions include: Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse. The therapist is required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.  If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person. The therapist is required to notify the police. If a client intends to harm himself or herself. The therapist will make every effort to work with  the individual to ensure their safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate, additional measures may need to be taken.

 

CONFIDENTIALITY & PRIVACY POLICY

The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.

Exceptions include:

Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which Dr. Heather Hanney Rask, Ph.D. is required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.  If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, Dr. Heather Hanney Rask, Ph.D. must notify the police and inform the intended victim. If a client intends to harm himself or herself, Dr. Heather Hanney Rask, Ph.D. will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in insuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, Dr. Heather Hanney Rask, Ph.D. will take further measures without their permission that are provided to her by law in order to ensure their safety.
