JESSICA S. CAMPBELL, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker – Boca Raton Therapist

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to my practice. Anxiety and depression can make us feel stuck and unable to find any motivation. Traumatic events can leave us uncertain of our place in the world or how to move forward. Relationships can become complicated, causing stress, confusion, and loneliness. Sometimes, we wholeheartedly commit ourselves to so much, yet feel like we are always falling short, letting ourselves and others down. But what would you do, if you could do anything?

I have dedicated my career to helping others learn about themselves, build more balanced lives, move on from troubling events, and form meaningful relationships for happier, more empowered lives. With a psychotherapeutic focus that addresses how thoughts, actions, and emotions can be better understood and by examining our stories for their deeper meanings, I can help you uncover your own strengths to increase and sustain a better sense of well-being and happiness.

By using a multidisciplinary approach that utilizes my years of training, I have become a skilled guide for others as they make their way through difficult life situations, try to resolve painful past issues, or discover ways to craft the bold and authentic life they truly yearn for.

LEARN MORE ABOUT YOUR BOCA RATON THERAPIST

I began my education in the psychology department at Florida Atlantic University, with an initial concentration directed toward the field of evolutionary psychology and contributing toward research on jealousy, mate guarding, and reproductive strategies. Eventually, I came to realize that I wanted to help others in a more fundamental way that was not readily accessible to statistical analysis, and I changed my focus to earn a master’s degree in clinical social work from Barry University.

Upon graduation, I was immediately hired as a psychotherapist with a community mental health agency, where I completed two additional years of post-graduate study, passed the advanced national clinical board, and gained my professional license in the state of Florida.

Throughout this time, I have chosen to continue my education by taking hundreds of hours of additional courses in the neurobiology of trauma, maternal mental health, abuse recovery, child development, relationship dynamics, and communication strategies. With over 15 years of experience, I have guided countless individuals toward more balanced lifestyles with a greater sense of wellness and enjoyment of life.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I know if I need therapy?

We all feel anger, sadness, and fear at times – that’s part of the human experience. But if those emotions become so intense that they start to impact your daily activities, or if you often find that you feel overwhelmed by daily stress, therapy may be able to offer you some solutions.

Additionally, if you find that you often feel tired with low motivation, or have stopped doing the activities you previously enjoyed, finding new strategies with a therapist could be helpful. Further, if you are getting negative feedback at work, feel like your closest relationships are becoming strained, or that friends are pulling away from you, you may benefit from talking to a professional.

I have more than 15 years of experience helping guide people in these and many other situations toward a more balanced lifestyle with a greater sense of wellness and enjoyment of life.

How can therapy help me?

There are certainly benefits to having a place of unconditional positive regard to express your feelings about difficult life situations. Therapy has the added benefit of the objectivity, skill, and training of the therapist.

I can help you:

  • Build new coping skills
  • Enhance your communication techniques
  • Identify negative patterns in your life
  • Adjust your focus in order to move forward and make gains toward attaining your goals

But therapy is not just talking about your troubles – I will help you work toward creative solutions that rise to meet the needs of your unique life so that you can reach the goals you set for yourself.

Will I have to take medication?

Medication can be extremely beneficial to helping people overcome some of their difficulties. However, this does not mean it is the right option for everyone. Very often, medication can be utilized in conjunction with therapy to help reduce an individual’s symptoms so that they can focus on the work being done in therapy and regain a sense of control over their lives. Then they can build new skills that will allow them to discontinue the use of medication.

For others, this integrative approach may not be the best solution. I will work with you to help determine the best course of action that will allow you to achieve a greater sense of well-being both during and beyond your therapeutic experience.

How do we get started?

Contact me and let’s start our conversation. A good fit is essential to a positive outcome, and I am dedicated to helping people find the right therapist. In your first contact with our office, you may be asked why you are seeking therapy, what struggles you are facing, or what outcome you are trying to achieve – all in order to determine who is the right therapist for you.

What will happen in our first appointment?

The first few sessions are when I can really start to get to know you, your history, and what brought you to therapy, as well as answer any questions you may have. Here, you can discuss what your goals, strengths, and areas of difficulty are, and I will start to formulate a plan for moving forward in order to help you reach your goals.

You can explore your expectations for treatment, and I will start to put together the theoretical framework that you can work from which will best suit your needs and comfort levels.

How often will I see you?

How often you see me is something that we can decide together, depending on your needs and goals. Many people prefer to see their therapist once a week through the majority of their treatment and then gradually move to every-other-week, monthly, or even longer between sessions.

Some people like to continue seeing their therapist regularly for years, while others like to simply check in periodically for wellness visits to help them remain focused. I will work with you to determine what best suits your needs while allowing you to make the progress forward you most want.

Is what we discuss confidential?

In the vast majority of cases, all communication with me is privileged and will never be disclosed without your express, written permission. The situations where this privilege does not extend are in line with the requirements of laws that identify licensed therapists as mandatory reporters.

These situations include:

  • When a therapist suspects abuse of a child or elderly individual
  • Where there is risk of serious harm to another individual
  • Where the client expresses a desire to seriously injure themselves

I look forward to working with you. Give me a call today.
